Mumbai: 53 Metro Stations To ‘Go Green’

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is paying special attention to its Mumbai Metro project. So far, MMRDA has connected the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor. And now 53 Metro stations in Metro 2A, Metro 2B and Metro 7 will be developed as Green Stations. The green stations will be eco-friendly stations thriving towards a sustainable future.

As per the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC)’s Green MRTS rating system, the 53 stations will be constructed as green Metro stations. IGBC and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will assist MMRDA in constructing the stations of Mumbai metro.

The lamps on these stations will be 100 per cent LED lights and will emphasise on consuming only natural energy.

The escalators and lifts at these metro stations will run on the VVVF technology. All the stations and car depots will use solar energy. More importantly, MMRDA plans to register this project as a Green Project globally.
